Short answer: a hammam shower is not a shower. It is a kurna — a marble basin fixed to the wall, fed by 2 separate taps, with no waste outlet at all. The bather blends hot and cold in the bowl, pours it with a hand bowl, and the water leaves over the rim and across the floor. That single decision, no drain in the basin, is what sets the floor fall, the gully size and the wall fixing for the whole room. Every hammam brief we receive shows a shower rose somewhere on the elevation, and about half of them should not. Short answer: outdoor sauna kits sell you the cabin, not the installation. A typical flat-pack ships 4 wall panels, 2 bench tiers, a door and a heater, and assembles in 6 to 10 hours. Russian Banya vs Finnish Sauna: What Actually Differs

Short answer: a Russian banya and a Finnish sauna are not separated by the number on the thermostat. Published measurements put Finnish sauna air at 80 to 100 °C with 10 to 20 % relative humidity, and a Russian-type wet sauna at 50 to 60 °C with 40 to 70 %. Yet a banya in use is regularly reported near 90 °C. The variable that actually separates the 2 rooms is stored stone mass, and what it lets you do with water. Wet Area Drainage: Floor Falls, Drains and Slip Classes

Wet area drainage is decided by four numbers and almost nothing else: the fall on the floor, the position of the drain, the depth of the trap seal and the slip class of the surface. Our minimum fall is 2 %, which is 20 mm of drop per metre run. Every dispute we have been called into on a finished spa floor traces back to one of those four being left to the site rather than drawn. What does wet area drainage actually have to achieve? Three jobs at once. It has to clear the water within seconds of it landing, keep that water out of the neighbouring floor, and keep every trap seal wet in the months the room is not used. The gobek tasi — göbek taşı in Turkish, the heated marble platform at the centre of a hammam hot room — is the single heaviest and slowest element in the whole wet area. A 30 mm top slab weighs about 81 kg per square metre and needs roughly 0.36 kWh per square metre just to come up to working temperature. Almost every problem people have with one traces back to that mass. What is a gobek tasi, and what is it actually for? It is a large heated marble table at the centre of the hararet, the hot room, and it is a working surface rather than a decorative one. Sauna and Hammam Ventilation: Air Changes, Placement, Proof

A commercial sauna wants 6 to 8 air changes per hour of hot dry air moved low-to-low across the room, so a 10 m³ cabin needs roughly 60 to 80 m³/h. A hammam wants the same 8 to 10 air changes of saturated 45 °C air taken out through corrosion-resistant ductwork with a run-on of 20 to 30 minutes.
